How To: Change Regional Setting on Windows XP and Windows 7

The country or region setting in Windows, referred to as location, indicates the country or region that you're in. Some software programs and services provide you with local information, such as news and weather, based on this setting.

Step by step to change Regional Setting on Windows XP and Windows 7

To change the country or region setting on Windows XP
  1. Click on Start button then open Region and Language, clicking Control Panel, clicking Clock, Language, and Region, and then clicking Region and Language.
  2. Click the Location tab, select your location from the list, and then click OK
To change the country or region setting on Windows 7

1. Make sure that the Keyboards and Languages tab is active.

2. Click the Install/Uninstall Languages... button.

In order for you to use languages other than the default installed in Windows you will need to download them from Microsoft, after which you will install the language pack for the language you wish to use.
